LEDs are the way of the future in lighting and MR16 LED bulbs are no exception. MR16 LEDs consume a fraction of the energy consumed by halogen MR-16s, some turning a 50w MR16 into a 7w MR16 and therefore saving you money and saving the planet too. Like many of their halogen counterparts, LED bulbs are available in low voltage 12V MR16 forms allowing you to save even more on your electricity bill. MR16 LEDs have some unique advantages over incandescent MR16s. First, unlike halogen MR16s, LED MR16s produce minimal amounts of heat making the light they produce cool and keeping the objects or spaces they illuminate cool as well. A cool beam is particularly important for lighting applications where delicate objects like art or heat-sensitive foods need to be displayed. Secondly, LEDs are ideal for color changing, giving many MR16 LEDs the added feature of providing rich and flat color as well as direct illumination. LED MR16s are available as GU10 lamps and in other bases, making them easy to replace standard MR16s with.
