HID lamps are a type of electrical gas-discharge lamp which produces light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside a trans-lucent or transparent fused quartz or fused alumina arc tube. This tube is filled with both gas and metal salts.

The HID bulbs family represents a large group of lamps including high and low pressure sodium, mercury vapor, metal halide, and others. High intensity discharge lamps are common in a wide variety of applications from outdoor lighting, transportation lighting, stage & studio lighting, medical lighting, commercial lighting, and many others. What makes HID bulbs different from typical incandescent and fluorescent bulbs is that they produce light through a process of excitation of gas and metal salts which is created by an arc of light between electrodes. HID bulbs are popular in these applications because they are more efficient than incandescent and fluorescent bulbs because much of the light the produce is along the visible spectrum rather infrared (heat) and produce more lumens per watt. From the size of an MR16 to lamps that are two feet long, HID bulbs come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. From screw in medium and mogul bases to various bi-pin bases these lamps can be used in a variety of fixtures. The range of applications that HID bulbs are used in also means that these bulbs are available in a wide variety of color temperatures from 2,000K to 20,000K. No matter what your lighting needs we have the "HID bulb" for you, so make us your one stop shop for high intensity discharge lighting.
