Pull the bulb holder from your projector and see what bulb is inside. For my Sony VPL-VW85 it was this particular Philips bulb. It is held in the cassette by 2 screws, and there are an additional 2 screws for the wiring. That's it! Most places wanted $400 for an authentic "Sony" bulb premounted in a new holder (Sony doesn't make bulbs). I bought this bulb, reused the old holder/cassette, and paid $120, pocketing the $280 in savings. You'll be surprised at how much brightness you have lost over the life of the bulb (mine was ~3.5 years old). I kept the old bulb in case of emergency (bulb blows in middle of Superbowl, for example). (Posted on 1/7/14)
