The concept of turtle safe is specific for use in Florida beach areas where turtles are trying to lay eggs and mate. Seems artificial lighting was bothering the turtles. The researchers found that the turtles Cannot "see" red or orange (amber) colored light. So these colors (LED) were OK-ed by Florida EPA for use in these areas.
