Compact Fluorescent Screw-In

Compact Fluorescent Screw-in Bulbs

With the coming phase-out of incandescent bulbs in 2012, CFL bulbs will be the most cost effective and energy efficient general lighting option. Compact Fluorescent bulbs can produce equivalent light outputs when compared to the incandescent bulb but at nearly a quarter of the energy consumption. The energy consumption comparison would be equal to transforming your 60W bulb into a 14W Compact Fluorescent light bulb. CFL bulbs last anywhere between 6,000 and 15,000 hours, far less than incandescent bulbs, reducing the time and money required for changing the compact fluorescent bulbs.

While many have wondered about the quality and abilities of color rendering bulbs (CRI bulbs) and the color temperatures available to fluorescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs; however, research shows these worries are unnecessary. A group of researchers in New Zealand performed The RightLight Challenge, by field testing the myth of color temperatures from fluorescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs with CRI bulbs and figure out once and for all whether people could really tell the difference between CFL bulbs and incandescent bulbs. The study revealed that about 68% of people, could not tell the difference between CFL light and incandescent light when placed inside rooms with identical fixtures. The RightLight Challenge also found that 18% of the participants in the experiment preferred the light of Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs to incandescent bulbs.

Whether CLF bulbs are in living rooms or industrial applications, Compact Flourescent bulbs produce a di0ffused light that is ideal for a uniform and general illumination. By using fluorescent bulbs or compact fluorescent bulbs, consumers can avoid the discomfort of glare and the annoyance of shadows. Fluorescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs are available in a wide range of temperatures spanning from warm colors to bright and cool white. Fluorescent bulbs and compact fluorescent light bulbs are not only limited in application to home and commercial markets; they are widely used in the medical and scientific field for black lighting and germicidal lighting. DJ's and club's use fluorescent lighting for their much needed blacklight.
