Belgium's Dexia Tower Brings the Night Alive with its LED Lights

As the third tallest building in Belgium and home of the prominent Dexia Bank, the Dexia Tower is a central feature of Brussels’ city life. The Dexia Tower is not just known because of its height or its prominent tenant, when night falls the Dexia tower offers a spectacular LED light and graphic show. The Dexia tower has a total of 6,000 windows, 4,200 of which house an LED module consisting of 12 RGB LED light bulbs. When the automated light system closes all of the windows’ blinds, the 50,400 LED bulbs light up, reflecting off the blinds and provide pedestrians and tourists a fantastic light show. The drawn reflective blinds allow the entire surface of the window to be lit up and act as a canvas for the LED bulbs to paint on. This immense LED lighting display is controlled by an advanced central computer which lends itself to boundless graphic, color, motion, and image possibilities.

The Dexia tower is another example of the creative and breathtaking ways LED technology is being integrated into architecture. With individually addressable LEDs, like you have in LED panels and screens, you can draw and illustrate basically anything.
