LEDs Give Peace a Chance with Color and Light at the Bridge of Peace

The Peace Bridge, opened in 1927, connects Buffalo, New York with Ontario, Canada and celebrates the long history of peaceful relations and cooperation between the United States and Canada. According to Architectural Record, until recently the Peace Bridge was illuminated with high-pressure sodium lamps and produced unappealing color temperatures and glare that was uncomfortable for motorists crossing the bridge. The high-pressure sodium lamps lighting up the 5,800ft long bridge were replaced with 695 LED luminaires that are connected to via fiber optic cables to a computer in Fort Erie, Ontario where the luminaires are controlled. The massive lighting system created at the Peace Bridge produces nightly light shows and also special lighting arrangements for holidays.
